Tirzepatide is similar to Semaglutide, but more powerful. Both medicines work by binding to the GLP-1 receptor to reduce food intake and increase insulin sensitivity. Semaglutide is a single GLP-1 receptor agonist.

Tirzepatide, on the other hand, is a dual agonist, meaning it targets both the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors and includes an additional hormone - G1H. This is a natural hormone your body produces in limited amounts, so this medication acts as a supplement for it.

Tirzepatide may be more effective for weight loss and is intended for patients with more than 30 lbs to lose. We generally recommend starting with Semaglutide, and then moving to Tirzepatide for patients who have significant weight to lose. This will all be discussed in your medical consult.

By comparison, participants who only added lifestyle changes without Semaglutide lost about 2.4% of their weight. Additional studies have shown similar results. However, as with any medication, there are risks to consider and qualifications to meet to know if Semaglutide is right for you.

Once approved for the Semaglutide treatment, you can repeat this program as often as you wish.
